Edgeland

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut bibendum tortor sit amet ligula rutrum, at porta tortor convallis ...

An edgeland is the liminal space between a developed and an undeveloped landscape. This rocky escarpment was something I saw after camping solo in freezing weather, nearly succumbing to hypothermia, but surviving and hiking to the top of this cliff overlooking McCrea Lake in Ontario the next morning. The edgeland to me is the space between comfort, and the desire to seek out danger. The bare legs are symbolic of my intense feeling of connectedness and fragility in nature, and the hare, a favorite recurring image of mine, represents duality. The hare has always fascinated me because of its representation of the ultimate prey, and at the same time it embodies a magical and profound experience. The hare lives above and underground, indicating both a vertical and horizontal split. The recurring split in this new series is indicative of the series’ title, indicating the alternation of realities.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
